Ballot Measure "BB" – 1/2% Special Purpose Transactions and Use Tax (Sales Tax)
On August 6, 2024, the City Council of San Clemente adopted Resolution No. 24-126 to submit the following measure to the voters in the November 2024 election. Click here to download the proposed ordinance text in full.

Shall the measure restoring/keeping sand on the beach, maintaining beach access for residents, reducing beach erosion; protecting ocean water quality, surfing/ocean swimming locations; restoring/maintaining beach trail, pier and lifeguard lifesaving equipment, helping protect San Clemente’s local beach economy, by establishing a dedicated 1/2¢ sales tax providing approximately $6,750,000 annually until ended by voters; requiring public spending disclosure, independent audits, all funds used locally and cannot be taken for other purposes, be adopted? |

- Primary arguments in favor or against the measure are due by August 9, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. Direct arguments shall not exceed three hundred (300) words and shall be signed by not more than five (5) persons.

- Rebuttal arguments in favor or against the measure are due by August 19, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. Rebuttal arguments shall not exceed two hundred fifty (250) words.

City of San Clemente
General Municipal Election - November 5, 2024
Overview
General Municipal Elections are conducted in the City of San Clemente in November of even-numbered years. The next General Municipal Election will take place in the City on November 5, 2025 for the purpose of filling two seats on the City Council; one seat in District 3 and one seat in District 4 for full four-year terms. The City Council will be asked to adopt resolutions around June – July 2024 to officially call the election for City officers and any ballot measures.
Process to Seek Election for Member of City Council
CITY OF SAN CLEMENTE
The nomination period for candidates to pull papers for the office of City Council is July 15 through August 9, 2024.
Citizens interested in seeking election to the office of Member of the City Council are invited to contact Laura Campagnolo, City Clerk, at (949) 361-8301 or by email at campagnolol@san-clemente.org. Citizens may also visit the City Clerk’s Office at 910 Calle Negocio, Third Floor, San Clemente, California, to meet with the City Clerk to obtain papers needed to seek office. Appointments are encouraged, but are not necessary.

All Orange County registered voters will receive a vote-by-mail ballot. Voters can return their ballots by mail, by depositing them in any ballot drop box in Orange County, or by voting or returning their ballot to any Vote Center in Orange County. Please be aware that mailed ballots must be postmarked by November 5, 2024. Ballot drop boxes will close on November 5, 2024 (election day) at 8:00 p.m. and persons must arrive at Vote Centers on November 5, 2024 (election day) before 8:00 p.m. to cast their ballots.
