CELEBRATE THE HOLIDAYS IN SAN CLEMENTE WITH SANTA’S VILLAGE BY THE SEA!
11/15/2024…San Clemente, California… The City of San Clemente and the Downtown Business Association “Puttin’ on the Glitz” proudly present “Santa’s Village by the Sea” on Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 4-8 p.m. on Avenida Del Mar and the Community Center (100 N. Calle Seville).
Santa will arrive at 4:30 p.m. and drive down Avenida Del Mar to the Community Center where he will be visiting with families and taking photos until 8 p.m. in the Ole Hanson Fireside Room. At 4:45 p.m. join the San Clemente Mayor and Councilmembers on the grass at the corner of Del Mar and Calle Seville to watch the annual tree lighting ceremony.
Wristband sales will be available for holiday activities at the Community Center including the popular San Clemente snow hill, sponsored by the Friends of San Clemente Beaches, Parks, and Recreation Foundation! Those who purchase a wristband can also participate in holiday cookie decorating, holiday crafts, games, face paint, live entertainment, and enjoy holiday treats. Don’t forget to stop inside to walk through the gingerbread contest display! Pre-sale wristbands will be available for purchase for $9 for residents and $12 for non-residents. Shop small and support your local San Clemente businesses! The Downtown Business Association will be “Puttin’ on the Glitz” with festive décor, holiday lights, and extended shopping hours for all your shopping lists! Enjoy vendor booths, delicious food and drinks, live entertainment, and all the holiday magic that the Glitz brings.
Before the night ends, stop by the Community Center lobby to participate in the Angel Tree program, sponsored by the San Clemente Junior Woman’s Club. The program encourages community giving by providing “gift tags” with special holiday gift requests for San Clemente youth and senior citizens. Pick up a tag and spread holiday cheer by purchasing a special gift for someone in need.
PARKING & TRANSPORTATION
Please be advised that parking will be impacted in the downtown area during this event. The 100 and 200 blocks of Avenida Del Mar will be closed on Dec. 7th, 2-10 p.m. and the Orange County Sheriff’s Department will be towing cars left on the street during this timeframe.
The City encourages multi-modal transportation and is pleased to offer free e-bike parking throughout the event area, including South Ola Vista & Avenida Granada, the alleyway off of El Camino Real & Avenida Del Mar, and Calle Seville & Avenida Del Mar. To reduce parking congestion, a free shuttle service from San Clemente High School is available from 3-10 p.m., or take the San Clemente Trolley from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Visit www.san-clemente.org/trolley for routes and timing.
Individuals using a rideshare service can be dropped off in the shuttle drop-off zone located at the top of Avenida Del Mar and El Camino Real. Families who are carpooling and intend to drop off passengers at the event should utilize Avenida Cabrillo and Calle Seville.
5th ANNUAL GINGERBREAD HOUSE CONTEST & DISPLAY
Inspired by your favorite baking shows lately? Show off your creativity and submit your gingerbread house to the Gingerbread House Contest! Divisions include Individual Youth (15 and under), Individual Adults (16+), and Family/Group. Entries are due December 6th before 2:00 p.m. Gingerbread Houses will be displayed and judged at the Santa’s Village by the Sea event on December 7th and awards will be given to the first, second, and third place of each division as well as a People’s Choice Award! Entry into the contest is free and winners will be displayed at the San Clemente Art Gallery until December 12th. Pre-registration is required; register now at www.san-clemente.org/events.
