FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Beach Sand Replenishment Project Near Pier Resumes
October 24, 2024… San Clemente, California…. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will be returning to San Clemente as early as October 28, 2024 to complete the first phase of sand replenishment between T-Street and Linda Lane beaches. Earlier this year, 114,000 cubic yards of sand were delivered as part of the USACE project, and the contractor is returning to place the remaining 86,000 cubic yards of sand. The USACE project is a 50-year project that will occur approximately every 5 years and will place 200,000 cubic yards of sand during each event.
Similar to construction activity earlier this year, the public can expect to see placement of a dredge pipeline on the beach south of the pier, storage of materials such as pipeline segments and sand moving equipment, and temporary construction staging in the upper pier bowl parking lot. Additionally, small areas of the beach will be closed during active sand placement operation to ensure the protection of public safety. More information on this important beach sand project is available at https://san-clemente.org/beachsand
The City appreciates the continued support and cooperation of the community while we work to restore our beaches.
