Day of the Dead Celebration

Join the City of San Clemente in celebrating the traditional holiday, Day of the Dead/Día de los Muertos, to remember friends, family, and community members who have passed. An altar will be available at Max Berg Plaza Park beginning October 30, 2023, for San Clemente community members to add photos of their departed loved ones for commemoration, followed by a special event scheduled for November 2, 2023, 3:30 pm – 6:30 pm.

The lively special event will include an altar and ofrenda, traditional sugar skull crafts, face painting, Ballet Folklorico dance performance, Danza Azteca performance, local non-profit organization booths, traditional delicious food, treats, drinks, and a DJ throughout the event. The event is free and open to the public. Traditional treats are free while supplies last. Traditional food and drinks hosted by local non-profit organizations will be available for purchase.

 

Attendees of the event are encouraged to dress up to celebrate the tradition. Catrina’s are welcome to participate in the Catrina contest. A prize will be available to the winner with the most votes. Attendees are allowed one vote each.
