4th of July Fireworks Display

The City of San Clemente will host an Independence Day Fireworks Display for the community on Tuesday, July 4, 2023! Fireworks will begin at 9 p.m. from the San Clemente Pier.

To prepare for this activity, the City would like to inform the public of a series of anticipated changes to traffic, trolley routes, and other pertinent reminders:

 

  • On July 3, at noon, the end of the pier, opposite the entrance, will close for preliminary preparation; the entire pier will close on Monday, July 4 at 8 a.m. and remain closed for the entire day. The Fisherman’s Restaurant will be open and accessible to patrons. The municipal beach and pier will be closed to the public immediately after the fireworks display until the morning of July 5th.
  • The spectacular firework display will begin at 9:00 PM from the Municipal Pier. The firework show will last approximately 20 minutes.
  • All ocean access (swimming, surfing, and wading) will be closed 1,000 feet in both directions of the pier from 8:00-10:00 PM.
  • Spectators can enjoy a flyover by the Condor Squadron, consisting of four AT-6 aircraft World War II trainers, between 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm along the coast, from Huntington Beach to San Clemente.
    • Huntington Beach, 5:30 p.m.
    • Newport Beach, 5:35 p.m.
    • Laguna Beach, 5:45 p.m.
    • Dana Point. 5:50 p.m.
    • San Clemente, 6:00 p.m.
  • San Clemente Police Services will be restricting vehicular traffic between approximately 7:00-10:00 PM through the entire lower Pier Bowl area. Beaches are open 4:00 AM to 10 PM. Overnight camping is prohibited on the beach and within parks.
  • Roping or blocking off portions of the beach is not permitted.
  • Fireworks, including Safe & Sane fireworks, are prohibited.
  • San Clemente Municipal Code states that no person shall take off, land, or operate an unmanned aircraft or drone over any City-permitted events open to the public unless granted written or electronic permission by the City. 
  • Please be advised that dogs are not permitted on the coastal trail on July 4th.
  • E-bikes are prohibited on the beach trail and beach at all times, this includes walking, pushing, or riding regardless of if the battery is actively being operated/utilized. Those in violation of these ordinances may be cited accordingly.
  • To assist with downtown parking, the San Clemente Trolley will be in service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on the 4th of July. Visit san-clemente.org/trolley for adjusted route information and additional details.
