Civic Background: From 1999-2002, I had the pleasure of serving on the Events Committee for the City of Aliso Viejo. During that time, I was directly involved with budgeting, vendor selection, volunteer assignments and program development for community events, such as summer concerts, Easter egg hunts, Halloween parades and Santa’s arrival, to name a few.
Currently, I am the President of the Board of Directors for the Newport Beach Coed Soccer League and liaison to the Recreation Department for the City of Newport Beach. In that capacity, I work with City staff to organize and oversee the City’s only adult soccer program.
I am a community delegate to the HOA Board of Directors for my neighborhood in San Clemente, as well as a block captain for the Neighborhood Watch Program.
I also serve the Orange County Superior Court as a temporary judge, on an as-needed basis, for such matters as small claims and civil settlement conferences.

Personal Note: I was born and raised in Orange County, spending most of my formative years on South Orange County soccer fields (AYSO Region 84) and sandy beaches (Laguna main beach). I went to Capo Valley High School, and graduated from UCI with a degree in psychology. After college, I moved to Sacramento, where I graduated summa cum laude from McGeorge School of Law. I returned to South Orange County to pursue a practice as a civil defense litigator and trial attorney – which I have done successfully for the past decade. Despite my busy work schedule, I have always had a calling to public service, and am honored and excited to lend my time, expertise and knowledge to the City of San Clemente. Having lived in South Orange County for over 30 years, I am deeply invested in, and committed to, the future of South Orange County. Moreover, I am uniquely sensitive to the many issues facing our community, including such perennial concerns as traffic congestion, beach pollution and the shortage of sport parks, and will work hard to promote improvement in these areas.

Civic Background: From 1987 to 2007 I worked for the City of San Clemente’s Beaches, Parks and Recreation Department, with the majority of those years as the Recreation Coordinator. Some of my duties included: overseeing the Recreation Division’s recreation classes; facility and park rentals; supervision of the Recreation Office and Ole Hanson Beach Club Pool; assisting at City Special Events and Editor of the City’s Recreation Magazine.
In 2007 I left the City of San Clemente for a promotional opportunity in Dana Point. As Recreation Manager for the City of Dana Point’s Community Services & Parks Department I oversee the recreational services and special events for Dana Point.

Personal Note: : My mother, Helen Russell and her family moved to San Clemente in the 1930’s and fell in love with the beauty of this Spanish Village by the Sea. Thus began our family’s long history of living and working in the community. In the 1930’s my Uncle Cliff Russell was the first City lifeguard and my Aunt & Uncle Sylvia and Kenny Michael were the caretakers for the Ole Hanson Beach Club and Casa Romantica. I am very proud to say that my father is Max L. Berg. He served the City for 35 years as City Clerk, was the first Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year recipient, has been honored on the City’s Wall of Recognition and has a City Park named after him. As a recreation professional and longtime resident, I’m hoping to bring my knowledge of the community and expertise in the recreation field to the Commission, where I can contribute in furthering the quality of life for the citizens of San Clemente.
