Robert "Bob" Baker
Mayor
Term Expires: November 2016
Contact Me: Phone: 949 361-8322

I entered the City Council with an open mind and an eye towards preserving the quality of life in this little town of ours. I’m a graduate of the "Leadership San Clemente" program and am proud to have been a leader in the “Save San Clemente Open Space” movement.

For the last 30 years, I’ve been a Commercial Airline Pilot and Captain with American Airlines. I have flown over 15,000 hours and enjoyed the challenge and the reward of helping others. I graduated from the US Naval Academy at Annapolis in 1970 and served in the US Navy as a Naval Aviator for seven years.

My wife, Pam and I are 20-year residents of San Clemente. Our children graduated from San Clemente High School. Over the years we’ve been active in a variety of organizations including: Indian Guides, Boys & Girls Club, Wrestling and Tennis. I am a firm believer in shopping with local merchants whenever possible. As residents, this financial support helps maintain a vibrant and local flavor in our community.

My hobbies are golf, bodyboarding and surfing (novice division).

Fun fact about me: I flew the Los Angeles Lakers charter airplane from Los Angeles to San Antonio during Shaquille O’Neal’s first year with the team.
