The 2010 Leadership San Clemente Program will take place from April 8, 2010 to May 27, 2010. Classes are held each Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This class is filling up quickly, and applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The City offers an agenda packet subscription service free of charge. If you wish to receive email copies of City Council, Planning Commission, Parks and Recreation Commission, Human Affairs Committee and/or Coastal Advisory Committee agendas, which include links to each item’s staff report, please send an email to cityclerk@san-clemente.org or call 949-361-8200. Agendas and supporting information relating to upcoming meetings are also available from the City’s website. La Pata Avenue/Del Rio Extension Project

Beach Trail Closure
Due to this weekend’s rain, the work scheduled for the Beach Trail will begin on Tuesday evening, March 9 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Closures for this work will be from North Beach to the Portal Access. The entire trail south of the Portal Access will remain open.

San Clemente Trails Map
A new San Clemente Trails Map is available for download! The map highlights 8 City maintained trails in addition to several other adjacent trails provided by the State Parks and San Juan Capistrano. The map includes detailed descriptions of the City trails, elevation, and trail rules and etiquette. Download, print, and go!

Census 2010 is right around the corner. The City of San Clemente is an official United States Census partner. Be counted. Complete your survey when received in March. Safety/Quiet Zone
The City of San Clemente is working to establish a Safety/Quiet Zone so trains are not required to blow their horns at at-grade crossings as they travel through San Clemente. The City’s efforts are utilizing a multi-pronged strategy that include Safety/Quiet Zone Partnership with the City of Oceanside, Administrative Approaches w/ Federal Railroad Administration and California Public Utilities Commission, Legislative Approaches w/ Federal and State governments, Evaluating Infrastructure Improvements including wayside horns, crossing closures, and underground crossings.

An award winning program presented by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, the Parent Project® provides proven strategies for raising today’s adolescents. Topics include strong-willed and problematic behavior, accountability and consequences, parental influence vs. control, improving school performance, family conflict, negative peer associations, drugs, alcohol, running away and violence.
