The City has developed a Short Term Lodging Unit permit application process and is accepting application packets beginning April 1st through April 30 2016.
At the April 6, 2016 Planning Commission meeting, the Planning Commission will consider a recommendation to the City Council on new zoning regulations for short term lodging units. The meeting will begin at 6 P.M. in the City Hall City Council chambers located at 100 Avenidia Presidio. A link to the meeting agenda and the Planning Commission packet are provided below.
On February 16, 2016 the City Council adopted new regulations regarding STLU’s throughout the City. The new regulations identify changes that need to be made with regard to all rentals in an effort to minimize the nuisance issues associated with these properties and their impact on residential neighborhoods. These regulations are outlined in CityOrdinance No 1617, which went into effect on March 17, 2016.
Transient Occupancy Tax:
Vacation rentals are subject to a 10% Transient Occupancy Tax. All charges for the property use are subject to the 10% tax including the property rent, cleaning fees, key charges, etc. Returns are due quarterly, within 30 days of the end of each calendar quarter.

Exemption Form: An exemption for transient occupancy tax (TOT) may be granted for continuous stays of 29 days or longer at a registered vacation rental property. The form must be completed and signed by the occupant and property owner in advance of the occupancy to be eligible for the exemption.
