SONGS Siren Growl Testing
|
Don't Be Alarmed!
Quarterly growl testing of the City of San Clemente Community Alert Siren System is scheduled to begin August 25th, 2008 and conclude August 26th 2008. Federal officials require our system be growl tested each quarter, growl testing consists of activation of each individual siren for a very brief period of time to ensure the unit is capable of emitting the siren tone. This testing is done by technicians from the Telecommunications Department, San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station with siren activation being accomplished from the siren control panel located in the City of San Clemente Emergency Operations Center.

Quiet Zone Application Update
|
The concern over train horn noise has escalated since the Final Rule by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) was implemented last summer (2006). This Final Rule has resulted in increased train horn noise, not only in San Clemente, but throughout the State. The City Council has made the application for quiet zones one of our top five priorities for the current fiscal year. We are extremely concerned with the increased train noise and are thoroughly committed to following through on a solution. Click Here for more information.
